Congratulations Brycen, v5.0!

During league for the past two Sundays, there has been flurry of challenges at the Fincastle Pokemon Gym.  Gym Leader Joel has been taking on trainers back-to-back-to-back, showing them everything from condition locks to energy denial in multiple defenses of the Grass, Steel and Fire type decks.  Gym Leader Logan, on the other hand, took on the task of defending the Darkness type badge from one of the league’s top trainers.  Logan had his hands full, but showed that no matter what the match-up may be, he never goes down without a fight.  Any badge won against him will definitely be a badge earned.

brycenBrycen F, in search of his 5th badge at the Fincastle Pokemon Gym, took on the Darkness type leader, Logan, in a challenge that began the Sunday before.  In the first game, Brycen set up rather quickly and went after the type advantage that he held over the gym leader.  However, Logan was able to keep pace in a very close back and forth game that came down to one prize card each.  Brycen got the last knockout and took game 1.  Game 2 was Gym Leader Logan’s game as he got things going quickly and took the 2nd game of the match as our time at league ran out.  This set up what looked to be a great deciding game 3 at the beginning of league this Sunday.  However, it did not turn out as anticipated.  Brycen opened the game with a pretty amazing start.  Logan was not in a bad position, but Brycen’s right to go first in this game was crucial, as it allowed him to stay one step ahead of Logan for the entire game.  Logan made the best plays possible and tried to hold off the onslaught by “catcher-stalling” Brycen, but Brycen was able to dig out the cards he had to have at the right time.  Brycen stayed on top until the end, taking game 3 and the match, earning the Darkness badge.  Great job, Brycen!

Brycen’s victory nets him his 5th badge at the Fincastle Pokemon Gym, moving him into elite company, as he is only the 2nd trainer ever to win 5 badges.  With the win, he keeps pace with fellow trainer, Hunter, who stands alone with 6 badges.  It definitely sets an interesting stage as we approach this weekend’s City Championship in Fincastle, as our top trainers and Gym Leader Logan enter the Senior Division to vie for trophy.  It should be a classic!  See you at the Gym!
