Congratulations Rob v2.0!

The Fincastle Pokemon Gym has been a little light lately on posts involving gym leader challenges.  Since we hit our 300th challenge, there has not been much in the way of news concerning challenges.  This is not because they’re not happening, because they are, but more because the gym leaders have hit a lengthy streak of successful defenses.  Gym Leader Logan has fielded the majority of recent challenges, seeming to be leader under fire, for whatever reason.

Logan, much like Gym Leader Joel, plays the same gym deck until either someone defeats it or the cards in it get rotated out, whichever comes first. Despite giving up the type advantage, Gym Leader Logan has fended off several  pretty game challenges on his water deck, a deck that is still centered around Keldeo EX (a very vulnerable EX since the release of Virizion EX & Genesect EX).  Especially with Play!Pokemon‘s recent decision to release the winning lists of all major recent and future TCG tournaments (including the National Championships earlier this month) for all to base their decks on, we knew Logan’s Water-type deck was not long for this world.

The first trainer at the Gym to come after Logan w/a Virizion/Genesect/Raichu list was one of our newer players, Rob C, who has already etched his name onto our Wall of Fame by defeating the Psychic-type deck.  There really is not much detail to pass on from the challenge.  Logan dug as deep into his water deck’s bag of tricks as he could, but he could not hold off the easy 1-hits that Rob’s Genesect EX’s provided.  Rob took the challenge in 2 games, sending Logan’s deck to the graveyard after a run that stretched his record as the Water-type gym leader to 36-2.  Logan will get right to work on a new deck for the Gym.  Rob is the 23rd trainer at the Gym to take home a gym badge.  With Rob’s victory, 49 badges have now been earned at the Gym.  Great job, Rob!

Rotation is eminent, which means that many of our long-standing decks are also facing rotation.  When the announcement is made, we will get to work on updating our decks.  So, if the deck you want to challenge is “under construction”, give us a week or 2 and we’ll be ready.  Our priority at the moment is helping Gym Leader Georgia prepare for her 1st trip to the World Championships as a competitor.  Stay tuned for upcoming announcements.  See you at the Gym!
