Okay, so last Sunday did not go as planned. We hope that everyone received the notice of league cancellation in time. That’s the biggest drawback of our league location is that we are required to pick up a key every Saturday and return it on Sunday after league. In instances like last weekend, we got caught up and could not get to the library in time to get the key… and no key means no league. We apologize to any who did not see Facebook or league emails in time. On the positive side, all of the Gym Leaders were able to visit the Lexington league on Monday and spend time playing with its trainers. We are pleased to see the large group of very promising Juniors in attendance in Lexington, and we hope extend the “Generals” program to the fledgling league soon. At any rate, we are back on track for this Sunday and will have league and a VG Premier Challenge at our regular league time.
Speaking of the Video Game, having a free Sunday afternoon last weekend was likely appreciated by those who are working their way through the new Sun and Moon games. Those playing the game know what we’re talking about when we say that the new game is very conversation-heavy and takes a while to play through. Gym Leader Joel is the 1st to play his way to becoming the “Champion” in our household, but still has quite a bit of content to complete. Thankfully, this Sunday’s event is still in the ORAS format. As a matter of fact, this is the last event that we will host in the ORAS format, so it is likely one of your last chances to use your favorite teams before the change-over. Sun & Moon will not be used for premier events until after the 1st of the year. Here’s a quick reminder about this Sunday:
Sunday, November 27th
Registration 2:45 – 3:15 PM
Entry fee: FREE
Competitors must bring their own DS system and Pokemon Omega Ruby or Pokemon Alpha Sapphire game and a completed team list to compete. Teams are constructed according to 2016 Video Game Rules. Matches will be single games. Championship Points awarded based on attendance.
If you play ORAS, even if you’ve never played competitively, put a team together and join us on Sunday. Just like the TCG, there are tons of sites with video game strategies that can help you get started. Or heck, just pick your favorite 6 characters and enter with them. The more, the merrier. Attention Juniors!!!!!!!!! At our last event, we had NO juniors… meaning if you had entered, you would have won your age group. So, again, if you are a Junior with a VG, enter the event.
We have a new format for league play that arrived with little instruction (actually none) and we have a post ready with the details we’ve learned. We were just holding it for some fact checking before publishing it. We will post full details on that (now that we have the correct info) by this Sunday. We hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! See you at the Gym!
